When simple favorites like potatoes get dressed up, people notice. According to a recent survey by the Idaho Potato Commission, when asked to name their favorite vegetable, 26 percent of respondees chose potatoes, followed by corn (19 percent), broccoli (17 percent), and tomatoes (16 percent). As for the way potatoes are prepared, 28 percent chose mashed, 25 percent baked, 20 percent french fries, and 10 percent home fries and hash browns.
