CPK veteran joins division of The Madera Group
Fast-casual Tocaya Organica, a 15-unit division of the The Madera Group LLC, has named Rudy Sugueti (left) as chief operating officer, the company said Thursday.
The Los Angeles-based Madera Group, which also owns the upscale Toca Madera, said Sugueti previously served as senior vice president of global development and operations at Playa Vista, Calif.-based California Pizza Kitchen.
“I look forward to continuing to build on the great success the company has achieved over the past three years and use my experience to guide The Madera Group during their rapid expansion phase into markets outside of California and Arizona, and potentially internationally,” Sugueti said in a statement.
Sugueti’s appointment comes after other executive changes earlier this year. The company promoted chief financial officer Mikey Tanha to the role of president and named former marketing executive Matt Smith as the group’s chief marketing officer.
Tanha, in a statement, said: “Rudy's genuine connection to our brand ethos is just one example of how he’s a seamless addition to Tocaya Organica. His expertise in restaurant expansion is exactly what we need as we enter our next phase of growth and gives us a tremendous amount of confidence as we continue to enhance our leadership team."
The Madera Group last November secured nearly $21 million in funding from Breakwater Management to accelerate growth of its chef-driven Mexican food brands.
The Madera Group, founded in 2013, has Tocaya Organica locations in California and Arizona. Toca Madera is in West Hollywood, Calif., with locations slated for Scottsdale, Ariz., and London.
