Trinity Groves, the Dallas restaurant incubator, has partnered with the Avocados From Mexico trade group to open AvoEatery, the region’s first all-avocado full-service restaurant.

The 2,500-square-foot AvoEatery will open Jan. 30, offering 29 menu items and 10 cocktails that feature avocados or avocado products like tea from the dried leaves of the plant.

David Spirito, senior director for foodservice at Avocados From Mexico, said the restaurant will seat about 125 inside and about 85 on the attached patio.

Spirito and the AvoEatery team created a menu of appetizers, toasts, salads, bowls, sandwiches, entrees and desserts that feature avocado in some way, from a guacamole appetizer flight to avocado-chocolate mousse in a chocolate shell from Trinity Groves Kate Weiser chocolatier.

Prices range from $6 for appetizers to $22 for an entrée New York strip steak with avocado-herb butter, fries and an avocado-chimichurri side. Avocado cocktails are priced $9 to $12.

The AvoEatery operations team members said their favorite dish was a Grilled Avocado Bowl ($12) with quinoa, roasted zucchini, baby spinach, avocado citrus vinaigrette, pistachios, feta, avocado crema and cranberries.

Ten cocktails feature avocados, avocado honey, frozen avocado cubes or tea made from dried avocado plant leaves. The bar menu also offers non-avocado cocktails.

The AvoEatery team plans to have biodegradable straws made from avocado pits available by the opening.

AvoEatery plans to offer lunch and dinner daily and to add a brunch menu for weekends.

Spirito said the restaurant will expand the Irving, Texas-based trade group’s efforts to test and offer restaurant and other foodservice options for avocados.

Avocados From Mexico earlier launched concession stand offerings at American Airlines Center in Dallas and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
