Chef Kevin Hickey, who spent the last 18 years cooking at Four Seasons hotels around the world, has teamed with Rockit Ranch Productions to open The Duck Inn, a “gastro tavern and dining room” in Chicago. Housed in a pre-prohibition-era tavern, The Duck Inn was inspired by Hickey’s grandmother, who operated a nearby diner of the same name during the depression. The new space is divided into a bar and dining room. As you might expect, the bar offers elevated bar food such as Foie Gras Tamale, a Chicago-Style Duck Fat Dog and a Hamburger Sandwich. The dining room has a seasonally inspired a la arte menu and a chef’s tasting menu. A highlight is a Rotisserie Duck For Two. When things warm up, an outdoor space will have porch seating, which will overlook a working garden. The Duck Inn sits on the border of Chicago’s Pilsen and Bridgeport neighborhoods and across from the newly announced Eleanor Park. A great chef in a cool space at an up-and-coming location makes this a must-see restaurant.
