Not that margarita-drinkers need an excuse to order their favorite cocktail, but it never hurts to build a beverage promotion around a drink with a devoted fan base. That’s where National Margarita Day comes in. Feb. 22 is filled with splashy promotion potential for full-service restaurants.

Consider Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurants, which served more than 4 million margaritas throughout 2012.  This year’s special National Margarita Day festivities include a one-hour Margaritaville University complimentary margarita-making class from 3–4 p.m. After graduates receive their diplomas, they can celebrate the achievement with the National Margarita Day toast at 5 p.m.

At all 41 locations of Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurants, the National Margarita Day celebration features $5.95 premium margaritas. Among Abuelo’s signature premium margaritas are the 1800 Hand-Shaken Margarita, the Platinum Margarita and the colorful Frida Margarita, inspired by the paintings of the late Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The Frida is made with Premium Herradura Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier, agave nectar, and a garnish of colorful fruit.

Here are five drink recipes to consider for your restaurant’s National Margarita Day celebration.

Hibiscus margarita
Raspberry chipotle margarita
Blueberry margarita
Desert pear margarita
