According to a recent study of more than 2,500 adults by CreditCards.com, women are 6% more likely than men to tip waitstaff and 7% more likely than men to tip food-delivery people. Boomers meanwhile are a whopping 23% more likely to tip waitstaff than Millennials and 16% more likely to tip food-delivery people.

However, there is a silver lining for the younger generation: According to the same survey, when Millennials do tip, they are much more likely to leave a larger tip than their parents’ generation. The average Millennial leaves 22% for servers while the average boomer leaves 17%. So restaurant employees are more likely to be stiffed by a younger customer but also more likely to receive a larger tip.

Overall, the CreditCards.com survey said 77% of people always leave a gratuity when they go out, while 63% of consumers always tip their food-delivery people.
