Winner: Banh Mi

Restaurant: The Station at Person Street, Raleigh, NC

Sandwich Creator: Scott Jankovictz

Inspiration: “To give a Southern twist to the traditional Vietnamese sandwich.”

Key Ingredients: Pork belly, tri-pepper jelly, pickled turnips and carrots, cilantro, cucumber, chives

Price: $9

Food Cost: $3.40

What the Judges Said: Is it cheating to use pork belly in a sandwich such as this? Maybe, but we looked the other way because the flavor-bomb belly in this sandwich was cut beautifully by the pickled veggies and then taken to another level with the pepper jelly. It packs the punch of a sandwich twice its size.

Honorable Mentions:
• Shrimp Banh Mi: Which Wich, Dallas
• Banh Mi: The Corner Office Restaurant & Martini Bar, Denver
