Mighty Quinn’s Barbecue — the New York City-based fast-casual barbecue chain — has begun to franchise, opening locations in new markets. Mighty Quinn’s newest franchisee, Michael Dolan, is a first-time restaurant owner and opened his first location in Forest Hills, Queens this month, with the eventual goal of bringing the menu of counter-service barbecue to four more locations in Queens.

“I was looking for something that isn’t burgers and fries because that market is saturated,” Dolan, who began his career in the financial sector told Nation’s Restaurant News. “It’s fast-casual but with different vibes.”

The corner restaurant, which takes over a neighborhood pub that closed during the pandemic, is a mix of fast-casual convenience (customers can walk up to the counter and order barbecue platters), in casual-dining atmosphere, with a bar serving a full menu of craft beers in partnership with Fifth Hammer Brewery and craft cocktails.

“Barbecue is not as well-represented in this neighborhood,” Dolan said, as he looks forward to opening more Mighty Quinn’s locations in the New York City area.
