Hai Hospitality plans to open the fourth location of its Uchiko concept in Miami South Beach’s Eighteen Sunset development in 2024, the company said Thursday.

The Austin-based Hai Hospitality, parent to the Uchi, Uchibā and Loro Asian Smokehouse and Bar as well, said this will be the first Uchiko, or “Child of Uchi,” location outside Texas.

“We’re inspired by the great reception we’ve received with the opening of Uchi Miami in 2021,” said Tony Montero, Hai Hospitality CEO, in a statement.

“Since then, we’ve fallen in love with the unmatchable energy of South Beach,” Montero said, “and we’re looking forward to following up on the success of Uchi with the introduction of Uchiko.”

Uchi and Uchiko were created by Chef Tyson Cole and feature his nontraditional take on Japanese food.

The company said the Uchiko Miami will offer a changing menu of sushi, wood-fired items and yakitori-grill options. Uchiko Miami will also offer a full bar with Japanese whiskeys and a menu of “traditional cocktails with a twist.”

Uchiko Miami will anchor the ground floor of the mixed-use Eighteen Sunset by Deco Capital. It is expected to seat 180 people and include a sushi bar, full cocktail bar, a private-dining room and outdoor patio seating with views of Sunset Harbour.
