Michael Solomonov
One thing you don't know about me is that I'm a sh**** breakdancer.
If I could trade places with one chef it would be Michel Bras (a venerated French chef with an eponymous restaurant) because his cuisine is inspirational.
One of my most memorable meals was lobster rolls at Montauk when I worked in the Hamptons.
If there were no olive oil, I'd have no reason to live.
My go-to drink is coffee.
If I were on death row my last meal would be dim sum.
My worst culinary creation was crab salad with crab roe and huitlacoche gel.
If I could change one thing about me, I would be less obsessive about work.
My favorite junk foods are Take 5 bars, Sour Patch Kids and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
If I wasn't a restaurant operator, I'd love to be a pro snowboarder.
Michael Solomonov, a Restaurant Hospitality Rising Star, is the chef/owner of Zahav, which showcases modern Israeli cuisine, and Percy Street Barbecue, which is scheduled to open next month. Both restaurants are in Philadelphia. Zahav was an Esquire “Best New Restaurant” last year.
