The Blackbird gang opens Dove's Luncheonette

Paul Kahan and Donnie Madia, the force behind Chicago’s One Off Hospitality Group, have a new restaurant called Dove’s Luncheonette.

The group that gave Chicago several outstanding restaurants, including Blackbird, Avec and The Publican, opened Dove’s Luncheonette, which draws inspiration from bygone diners and watering holes. The 41-stool luncheonette takes its name from Nelson Algren’s A Walk on the Wild Side. Chef de cuisine Dennis Bernard’s has created a menu of Southern-inspired Mexican cuisine. Located in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, Dove’s pays homage to legendary eating spots in the neighborhood, chiefly Sophie’s Busy Bee and Leo’s Lunchroom. It will offer counter service morning, noon and night. Here’s a look inside and at some menu items.
