A look at five new restaurants in California

Mexican, European, and Taiwanese cuisine are inspiring new venues in the Golden State

The past month has seen a variety of new restaurants in California, including Broma, a hyper-local Iberian restaurant at the Shashi Hotel in Mountain View, helmed by chef Jarad Gallagher with a daily-changing menu.

Palm Springs has a new modern Mexican-inspired restaurant called Hoja Blanca that brothers Omar and Arnold Limon started as a pop-up. Now the venue serving ceviche, tostadas and steak with eggplant mole has a permanent home.

Downtown Los Angeles has two new restaurants: The second location of Taiwanese concept Pine & Crane, which features an extensive tea menu as well as small plates, noodles, dumplings and more, and Strada Eateria + Bar, inspired by the global travels of owner Julian Andrei and the culinary skills of chef Naziana Herascu.

And in Hollywood chef Ronnie Muñoz’s Sunset Food Group has opened Todos Santos, featuring seasonal ingredients and wood-fire cooking inspired by Muñoz’s Baja California connections.
