May 7, 2019
Though its name might initially raise eyebrows among American consumers, cheese tea, a Taiwanese-born beverage found throughout Asia, is now gaining popularity stateside. To create the drink, hot or iced tea is topped with a foamy blend of milk and cream cheese, adding a unique textural and flavor element.
The beverage enjoys popularity among the younger demographic, with awareness highest among Generation Z and Millennial consumers. To appeal to those unfamiliar with the drink, cheese tea may also be referred to as “milk foam” or “milk cap” on menus.
