Why she's rising: Triple Creek Ranch was recently named one of the top 10 Small Resorts in the U.S.; was named 1998 Woman of the Year by the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality; was recently named president and c.e.o. of the American Management Association, a $250 million, 87,000-member worldwide management research and training organization; currently has a teaching fellowship at Harvard University. Education: Bachelor's, masters and law degree from Arizona State. Background: She's an attorney and an instrument-rated pilot who served as the first women deputy administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and as the last vice chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board. In 1994 Barrett was a candidate for the governor of Arizona. Mentors: Sandra Day O'Conner, whom Barrett worked with when O'Conner was a state senator; Ruth Matthews Getts, "a personal friend whose style and grace has served as an example of how we treat guests at Triple Creek Ranch." What the future holds: Very few dull moments. In addition to her focus on Triple Creek, Barrett wants to continue working with women in leader-ship groups.
