Inspiration: “A classic Philadelphia sandwich adopted for DC.”
Key Ingredients: House-roasted Italian pork, sautéed broccoli rabe, sharp provolone on a locally baked roll

Food Cost: $1.95 / $2.86
What the Judges Said: We salute Patten and Mazza, two former Philadelphia guys, for recognizing that Philadelphia pork sandwiches outshine the legendary Philly cheesesteak (an opinion we happen to share). The succulent, almost sweet Italian-style pork in the Pattison, combined with the slightly bitter broccoli rabe and sharp provolone, was simply the class of its field. The fact that Obama visited the place and did not order this sandwich makes us think Michelle is keeping him on a short leash.
