Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson, the founders of the three-unit LocoL concept, have launched a coffee company called Yes Plz that aims to make quality coffee more affordable.

LocoL quick-service restaurants are selling Yes Plz coffee drinks for about $1 per cup — $1.50 with milk and sugar — and 12-ounce bags of coffee for about $8 to $9, which is roughly equivalent to Starbucks coffee bags in grocery stores on the West Coast.

The two chefs have partnered on the coffee program with Tony Konecny, founder of the Tonx roasting company, which he sold to Blue Bottle Coffee in 2014.

Konecny confirmed reports this week that the chain will launch windows, kiosks and potentially standalone coffee spots alongside the LocoL banner as the concept grows, with Yes Plz supplying the beans.

Konecny declined to offer further details.
