Tony Soprano’s Dinner

Tony Soprano’s Dinner

Actually, the whole Soprano gang would be needed to tackle the world record-setting “bowl” of spaghetti that Buca di Beppo recently prepared at one of its units in Anaheim, CA. The bowl, measuring 15-feet in diameter by three-and-a-half-feet tall, was filled with 13,786 pounds of spaghetti. The Italian restaurant concept also prepared 100 gallons of marinara sauce to dress the pasta. There was no word on how many wheel barrels of Tums it would take to tame a world record heartburn.

So, what does it take to pull of such a feat? Let’s just say a lot. Six chefs oversaw the preparation of the pasta and a “bucket brigade of Buca employees to fill the bowl, which looked more like an above-ground swimming pool that was positioned near the front entrance of the restaurant. Buca demolished the old world record, 9,767 pounds, which was set by Sbarro last year.

The latest event lead to a March 15th promotion where Buca offered free spaghetti to customers who purchased pasta or an entrée at one of their restaurants. The chain also donated 10,000 pounds of uncooked pasta to a variety of homeless charities.
